Excerpt from Press Release
“Untitled – Agnosia Series I”, at Videotage (Mar 2011)

As an experiment of situating abstraction in moving image, the project attempts to alter the usual way we perceive the visual world. The artist deconstructs the tallest skyscraper on Hong Kong Island — IFC TWO — into videos of pure color. Audiences are invited to experience the building in fragmental, abstract form. ‘Untitled – Agnosia series I’ not only reconstructs one of the most iconic buildings in Hong Kong in a minimalist manner, but also touches on the themes of color and light by relating the two through objectification. When the stereotypical image of the city is reconstructed in an abstract form to the extreme, what do we see and how do we perceive what we see, or more accurately, what we can’t see?
